NEW 802.11ac Preferred Adapters (AM WiFi Analyzer)

These preferred 802.11ac adapters are available for use with AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer:

  • NetAlly AM/D1080
  • Edimax EW-7833UAC AC1750
  • Alfa AWUS 1900
  • Proxim Orinoco 9100

 NOTE: These are not supported on Windows 7 systems.

The drivers for these adapters are located in your My AirMagnet account under Documents / Drivers. 

The drivers are also available locally after you have installed the product:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AirMagnet Inc\AirMagnet Laptop\NTCTUSBDriverInstaller\setup.exe

  • Driver provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
  • Driver date: 12/19/2016
  • Driver version 1030.13.704.2016

 These adapters offer the full feature set of AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer and are considered to be preferred adapters, with the following exception:

  • These adapters will not report noise or SNR due to limitations set by the manufacturer; noise will display as -100


Because USB 3.0 signaling is known to cause interference in the 2.4GHz band, users are prompted to select the desired mode of operation when launching the WiFi Analyzer application: USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.

At product launch with a single preferred 802.11ac adapter, you will be prompted to select from the following options:

  • Operate the selected adapter in USB 2.0 mode.
    • Use to avoid USB 3.0 interference.
    • This locks the port down to 2.0, regardless of the hardware port type.
    • This may limit the total throughput of the adapter.
  • Operate the selected adapter in the USB mode supported by the hardware port type.
    • This uses whatever the hardware port supports: 3.0 or 2.0.

 

When more than one preferred 802.11ac adapter is used, the USB 2.0 option is required. This may limit the total throughput of the adapters. When launching in multi-adapter mode with more than one 802.11ac USB adapter, USB 2.0 is assumed for all adapters.
